  • Artificial intelligence is coming for your job: 41% of employers intend to downsize their workforce as AI automates certain tasks, a World Economic Forum survey showed Wednesday. Out of hundreds of large companies surveyed around the world, 77% also said they were planning to reskill and upskill their existing workers between 2025-2030 to better work alongside AI, according to findings published in the WEF’s Future of Jobs Report. But, unlike the previous, 2023 edition, this year’s report did not say that most technologies, including AI, were expected to be “a net positive” for job numbers.

The WEF's report is behind the information curve by at least 6-9 months, during which time AI has doubled intelligence and ability twice over. The best estimates now predict that AGI - Artificial General intelligence - will be achieved by midyear 2025. By 2030, virtually 100% of companies worldwide will be impacted.

  • One down, most of Europe (and elsewhere) to go . . .

In a win for free speech advocates, the Australian Government formally abandoned its misinformation bill over the weekend, after failing to secure support in the Senate.

The proposed laws would have forced social media companies to show that they were preventing the spread of misinformation and disinformation on their platforms, with fines of up to 5% of global revenue for non-compliance.

  • This article just received an update, because I made a discovery the other day that will make the world of document signing so much more reachable to those who need to send out documents for signatures.

A promo for an e-sign service crossed my screen the other day, with claims that it's free service was better than others out there. I always challenge such claims, so that sent me off to the search engine to find out if their offering really was better. First, the company only offered 2 free requests a month instead of the usual 3 most others offer, and second, there are more companies offering anywhere from 3 to 5 requests in a month than I thought.

Some don't let you save templates in the free version, some are better for simple documents, some let you add as many fields as you require. Some let you duplicate a document to send to someone else.

When I discovered this, another thought dawned on me, and it's a thought that has gotten me into trouble with others in the past when I first wrote this article. In fact, it was an accusation around the use of free services that spawned the article in the first place back in June 2020.

I've now updated this article on how to conduct business for free!

  • How utter stupid can these people be (including the dolts who buy this hogslop)? And even if you actually are that ignorant, do you REALLY believe the energy companies are going to absorb that cost? Really?

New York to Tax Fossil Fuel Producers $75 Billion for Climate Change Damages

Gov. Kathy Hochul on Thursday signed legislation that will require fossil-fuel producers to pay $75 billion to supposedly help the state adapt to climate change. “This landmark legislation shifts the cost of climate adaptation from everyday New Yorkers to the fossil fuel companies most responsible for the pollution,” Ms. Hochul’s office declared.

The top implied admission is New York is both broke and desperate.

  • It’s not just dyes and seed oils poisoning Americans and ending their lives short; plastic chemicals are increasingly being found in popular fast foods and supermarket staples. The former CEO of GitHub, Nat Friedman, who is also an investor seeding AI, infrastructure, open source, and frontier tech companies and is focused on health, published data on X about plastic chemicals found in a majority of foods across the San Francisco Bay Area. “We did it! We tested 300 Bay Area foods for plastic chemicals. We found some interesting surprises,” Friedman wrote on X.

  • What Makes E-Z Home Care Medical Billing Possible with End-to-End EDI & RCM?

The answer lies in the integration of seamless, automated systems that simplify every step of the billing process. EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) allows your claims to be transmitted quickly and accurately to Medicaid and insurance companies, eliminating manual data entry and reducing errors. RCM (Revenue Cycle Management) streamlines the entire billing cycle, from patient registration to payment collection. • It is not every day that you achieve the status of “he-who-must-not-be-named.” But that curious distinction has been bestowed upon me by OpenAI’s ChatGPT, according to the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and other publications. For more than a year, people who tried to research my name online using ChatGPT were met with an immediate error warning.
It turns out that I am among a small group of individuals who have been effectively disappeared by the AI system. How we came to this Voldemortian status is a chilling tale about not just the rapidly expanding role of artificial intelligence, but the power of companies like OpenAI. Joining me in this dubious distinction are Harvard Professor Jonathan Zittrain, CNBC anchor David Faber, Australian mayor Brian Hood, English professor David Mayer, and a few others.
