I look at it this way. You can elect a person to run the country, or a group or the citizens of the country itself. Switzerland uses direct democracy so its not a fallacy. What will make this happen is online voting using the security of the block chain. Imagine being able to vote while sitting at home. I would think many more will vote. Now the issue then is to get enough information to the voters so they can make an "informed" decision. That can come through something like a court of public opinion.. It's a fact that Canadians will be using gas, diesel and oil for many years to come. How about we Canadians take the hundreds of billions going to the refineries and we invest in refineries right at the source of the oil. Then we refine our own gasoline, diesel and oil and sell it back to ourselves. This could possibly generate trillions of dollars over the next decade. We can take all that money and have world class health care, no more need to worry about being over run. We could have free education K - U. A lot more affordable housing across Canada. Turn our garbage into something useful in an environmentally responsible way. High energy plasma can do this.. Canadians can have a lot more then this..
