  • What effects will a declining Canadian dollar have on the Canadian economy?
President-elect Trump’s threatened trade actions against Canada could also exert further downward pressure on the loonie, especially if the Bank of Canada responds to Trump’s actions by making additional rate cuts. For context, it took $1.33 Canadian dollars to purchase one U.S. dollar on January 1, 2024, compared to $1.43 Canadian dollars on December 13, 2024. This represents a substantial depreciation in the Canadian dollar’s value of approximately 7.6 per cent over the period.

  • It is absolutely amazing, AND HEARTBREAKING, that we have to even do this but:

We are trying to get bills passed or amended in each state that states all patients can have a family member or advocate with them at all times. We are making traction in 13 states and have gotten some bills passed but we need to get it out to the public to drive public support. Steve Reiter, the founder of the project, has a tragic story of his young wife dying alone in the hospital. We have thousands of victims that this happened to and want to get iron clad legislation so this doesn't happen again.

It would really help us get the word out with a goal of building state committees to lobby our representatives by doing lots of media. Most likely it would be Steve, the founder, a victim, a doctor or nurse and possible an attorney on the interview if possible.

Please read the bills attached in the link provided, you will clearly see the problems with these bills. Any input would be appreciated as well.

  • " To facilitate early recognition, Kawaoka and his colleagues will look for mutations in viral proteins that allow avian influenza viruses to bind to human receptors or facilitate efficient replication in human cells.
Avian viruses don’t generally infect human or other mammalian hosts. But every once in a while, a mutation occurs that allows avian viruses to adapt to human cells. That is generally when a pandemic occurs.
... intervention methods — such as social distancing, antiviral compound distribution, and vaccine development/production — could be implemented early. "

  • (Bloomberg) -- The Canadian dollar slid to its lowest level since March 2020 as Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s government slips into crisis after the shocking resignation of his finance minister. The currency extended its recent losses to slide another 0.4% on Tuesday past 1.43 per US dollar, the weakest level since the Covid-19 pandemic first shuttered cities. The loonie has been declining as the US’s northern neighbor’s economy lags and officials struggle to come up with a plan to respond to President-elect Donald Trump’s tariff threats.

  • Trump’s return to the world stage – even though his official inauguration is on January 20 – is already claiming numerous victims. Arguably, even the fall of both the French and German government in recent months have been given some impetus by the political events in the US. But one of the clearest victims appears to be Canadian Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland, who resigned yesterday, citing differences with PM Trudeau’s Cabinet over how to prepare for a looming trade war with its big neighbour. Observers say her comments in her resignation letter on “eschewing political gimmicks” likely refer to the temporary tax cuts and pay-checks planned by the government to support consumption. She sees handing out money as fiscally imprudent. Given that she announced her decision just hours before she was due to speak in Parliament on the fiscal and economic outlook, markets reacted with a fall in the Canadian dollar (depreciating some 0.4% vis-à-vis the US dollar) and rising bond yields (some 7bp on the 10y note)

  • For those of you that are struggling with weight loss and have some trust left in pharma, please read this BEFORE taking this latest "miracle drug", ESPECIALLY the part about being "irreversible and there is no treatment" . . .

New Study Links Ozempic To Vision Loss, Confirms Harvard Research

Non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy, or NAION, occurs when blood flow to the optic nerve is blocked, causing sudden vision loss.

The results indicate that a type 2 diabetes patient taking Ozempic for two decades would have a .3% to .5% chance of developing NAION.

"The vision loss is usually irreversible and there is no treatment. Given the serious nature of this potential adverse effect of semaglutide, we leveraged the nationwide Danish and Norwegian health registries to further investigate this association"
