We are blocked now on the shipments of new starlinks coming in until we get an escort from the fire dept. but that may not be enough.” One of the most insightful reports I saw on this subject came from a guy who regularly finds ways to deliver relief supplies to disaster zones (including this one) stated that in 2017 after Hurricane Irma, independent aid was prohibited from by FEMA getting to the Florida Keys. When he finally bypassed the blockade (by going 87 miles at night by boat), he learned that the residents had been told by FEMA to stay inside and that there was limited aid (e.g., FEMA wouldn’t even give them water) because no one besides FEMA wanted to help them (leading them being abandoned) and since they’d lost communication with the outside world so they had to take FEMA’s word on this. Following this, he was able to mobilize the local populace to put pressure on FEMA to allow him to be involved in getting relief supplies. After mobilizing it, he had a remarkable experience which cuts to the heart of the issue: "I was able to coordinate several trucks full of supplies to be brought down to the EOC in Marathon. I was privy to the EOC meeting, BUT was informed in that meeting, that all of the semi trucks full of food, water and hygiene supplies were to be turned around and not allowed to be offloaded for distribution by the EOC." "THE REASON they gave us, was that these donations were not from companies on their "preferred vendors list" and that they would not accept them or give them to the residents of the keys impacted by the storm. It was at that point that I realized, this is ALL ABOUT MONEY. These 'preferred vendors" are getting part of the money being released by the state and federal govt for each disaster. In turn, some of the "vendors" make it on the list because a friend gets them on the list, and in return for getting ridiculously outlandish amounts of compensation for the services they render, they give kickbacks." I have a feeling that October is going to be one of the most tumultuous months that we have seen in a really long time. Ports all along the East Coast and all along the Gulf Coast are about to shut down, and that could throw U.S. supply chains into a state of chaos for an extended period of time. Meanwhile, vast areas of the South are just starting to recover from a “once in a generation storm” that has done about 100 billion dollars in total damage. Sadly, economic conditions in those states will not return to normal for the foreseeable future. The utter insanity of government regulation, as presented by Elon Musk: "You really can think of the United States and many countries, it's arguably worse in the EU, as being like Gulliver, tied down by a million little strings. And any one given regulation is not that bad, but you've got a million of them or millions, actually. And then, eventually, you just can't get anything done. And this is a massive tax on the consumer, on the people. It's just that they don't realize that there's this massive tax in the form of irrational regulations. I'll give you a recent example that is just insane. SpaceX was fined by the EPA [U.S. Environmental Protection Agency] $140,000 for, they claimed, dumping potable water on the ground, drinking water. This is at Starbase, and we're like, we're in a tropical thunderstorm region. That stuff comes from the sky all the time. You know, it was just water to cool the launch pad during liftoff. And there's zero harm done. And they agree: Yes, there's zero harm done. We're like, okay, so there's no harm done, and you want us to pay a $140,000 fine? Yes, because you didn't have a permit. Okay. We didn't know there was a permit needed for zero-harm, fresh water being on the ground in a place where fresh water falls from the sky all the time. I mean, sometimes it rains so much the roads are flooded. So we're like, how does this make any sense? And they were like, we're not going to process any more of your applications for Starship launch unless you pay this $140,000. They just ransomed us. And we're like, okay, so we paid $140,000. But this is no good. I mean, at this rate, we're never going to get to Mars."
