The U.S. Justice Department says the 24-year-old former employee arrested Tuesday had worked at a TD Bank location in Doral, Fla., where, starting in June 2023, he allegedly assisted a money laundering network by issuing dozens of debit cards for shell companies in exchange for bribes. Citizens of Cyprus can now go digital, with the launch of the country’s mobile digital services app, Digital Citizen. The country’s president, Nikos Christodoulides, says the app “allows citizens to obtain and store official documents in digital format for legal use within the country,” according to reporting from In-Cyprus. Google plans to make its digital wallet available to children whose parents or guardians use the Family Link app so they can perform tap-to-pay transactions through NFC and biometrics. Google Wallet is in the midst of a grand expansion taking in mobile driver’s licenses, passports and “everything else.” The version for kids will be able to store gift cards, event tickets and contactless payment cards, according to Android Police. Parents would have to approve the addition of each credential to the digital wallet, and can monitor payments and remove cards they have previously approved. It will not be able to store digital IDs or support online purchases. Brushing off objections from the Identity Project and others, the US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has issued regulations creating the framework for an all-purpose smartphone-based national digital ID and tracking system. The TSA’s new rules are piggybacked on the REAL-ID Act of 2005, and are ostensibly standards for what states will have to do to issue digital versions of driver’s licenses or ID cards that the TSA and other Federal agencies will accept for Federal purposes, in circumstances where ID is required by other Federal laws.
