Sometimes you come across things that don't seem natural in the wild, and when you research it, the thing indeed only happens in plant nurseries and garden shops. In this case, the strange appearance was non-white yarrow! I didn't touch it last year thinking it must be something completely different, but searching online revealed something like over 100 different domestic species of yarrow with a wide range of colours. The ones in the pic collage here must have escaped someone's garden.
