West Kelowna is home to nearly 39,000 people and by 2040, we expect to welcome an additional 12,000 new residents to our community. The update of the Official Community Plan (OCP) will help guide growth and establish policies that make West Kelowna a great place to be and reflect the Community Vision established in 2021.Official Community Plan Updates - August 2023In June 2023, Council gave first and second reading of the Official Community Plan Bylaw at its regular scheduled meeting. To learn more, read the Council Report and attachments or watch the webcast. In July 2023, we held a Public Hearing to receive input from the community about the OCP. Following the Public Hearing, Staff have made any necessary edits to the OCP document that will be for Council's consideration at it's August 22nd meeting at 6:00pm for third reading and consideration of adoption. Building on the Community Vision (2020 - 2040) to achieve a vibrant, walkable and connected West Kelowna, the community has helped shape the OCP Update and Transportation Master Plan through various engagement opportunities and feedback. The draft OCP is now entering the Council review and approval process. A summary of the steps taken throughout the OCP update process is below. Additional information is available in the Documents section on the right side of the page.Phase 1 - OurWK Community Vision: The award-winning Community Vision process, OurWK.ca was endorsed in March of 2021 as part of the first phase of the OCP update. It includes two urban centres, complete neighbourhood nodes, infill housing and industrial land use.
