At the time, searches I tried to run on the connection between mushrooms and glyphosate kept coming up empty. In today's glyphosate article, Mercola mentions an amino acid that is considered to be non-essential, as the body is able to create it from other food building blocks. He said it is possible however, to also get it from food, and saturating the body's levels of this compound prevent the body from mistaking glyphosate for it. This compound can be found in meat, eggs, dairy, various fish, Kale, spinach, AND. . . believe it or not, mushrooms! The compound I'm talking about, is Glycine! In your regular white, store-bought mushroom a 10g serving will give you 9mg of Glycine. If you like Shiitake mushrooms, the same serving size dried, yields 29mg while fresh yields 19mg! I found the name of the compound!!! I had to fire off a short note to Mom about that. I don't like the texture of mushrooms, but will tolerate them in some pizzas, throw them into smoothies, and enjoy mushroom soup where they are diced up small.
